Camera evolution

ARRI’s commitment to 65 mm began in 1989 with the ARRIFLEX 765, which is still used today. In 2014 the ALEXA 65 arrived, featuring a digital sensor the same size and shape as a 5-perf 65 mm film frame, and now the compact ALEXA 265 finally makes 65 mm as easy to use as any other format.

Smaller and faster

3x smaller and lighter than ALEXA 65
Accessories allow speedy, flexible setups
Faster boot-up time and reduced power draw

The ALEXA 265 is much lighter and more versatile than its predecessor, making handheld work less taxing. We could easily mount it on gimbals, remote heads that only take smaller payloads, and on the ARRI TRINITY 2 stabilizer.

It’s exciting! The form factor is so small, and it’s got all kinds of new features, including internal NDs. I can’t wait to start using the ALEXA 265 and putting it through its paces.

Full accessory set

With the exception of one new side bracket, ALEXA 265 is fully compatible with the ALEXA 35 accessory and support set, opening endless rigging and operating possibilities.

Unique filter cartridge system

Special filter trays in protective cartridges slide in front of the ALEXA 265 sensor via a hinged door. Single-stop ARRI FSND filters from zero to ND2.7 are just the beginning; the system’s potential extends to diffusion, creative filters, and detuning optics. An encoded chip makes filter information available in the user interface and camera metadata for tasks on set and in post.

Improved sensor

Retaining the 6.5K resolution and large pixel pitch loved by ALEXA 65 users, ALEXA 265 features a brand-new sensor revision that increases dynamic range to 15 stops and sensitivity to EI 6400, enhancing the camera’s low-light performance.

New color science

ARRI REVEAL Color Science, used natively by ALEXA 265, helps the camera to capture more accurate colors, subtler tonal variations, and lifelike skin tones. All ALEXA 265 cameras are super color-matched, which simplifies color grading, and the advanced LED calibration streamlines virtual production.

Easy workflow

ALEXA 265 records ARRIRAW to Codex Compact Drives, using ARRI’s new-generation LogC4 workflow. Standard drive readers and docks can be used, while Codex HDE reduces file sizes by around 40% without diminishing image quality. Monitoring in UHD or HD can be set up in SDR, or HDR, or both.
